Implants
What are my Implant Options?
Dental implants are a durable, long-term solution for replacing missing teeth. Whether you're missing one tooth, several teeth, or all of them, there's an implant solution for you:
- Single Tooth Implants: Ideal for replacing a single missing tooth without affecting adjacent teeth. A titanium post is placed in the jawbone, topped with a natural-looking crown for a seamless result.
- Implant-Supported Bridges: Perfect if you're missing several teeth in a row. Instead of a traditional bridge that relies on surrounding teeth, dental implants support the restoration for better strength and stability.
- All-on-4 or Full Arch Implants: For those missing most or all teeth in the upper or lower jaw, this option uses just a few strategically placed implants to support a full set of replacement teeth — restoring function and appearance in a permanent way.
What to Expect - The Procedure
1. Pre-Procedure Preparation
• A thorough examination, including X-rays or 3D scans, will be conducted to evaluate bone density and oral health
• Local anaesthesia (and in some cases sedation) will be administered for comfort.
2. Surgical Placement
• An incision is made in the gum to expose the jawbone.
• The implant is surgically placed into the bone and covered with gum tissue or a temporary healing abutment
• The site may require stitches to promote healing.
3. Healing Phase (Osseointegration)
• Over several months, the implant integrates with the jawbone
• Follow-up visits are necessary to monitor healing.
4. Final Restoration
• Once healing is complete, an abutment is attached to the implant, and a crown, bridge, or denture is placed to restore function and aesthetics
Dental implants require a staged approach, typically spread over several months. Healing and osseointegration are essential for long-term success. Dental implants have a high success rate. However, success depends on factors such as bone quality, oral hygiene, and overall health. While implants are designed to be a long-term solution, no guarantees can be made regarding their longevity or outcome.
